Founder & Director
Rabbi Yaakov Meyer

Rabbi Yaakov and Chaya Meyer

Rabbi Yaakov Meyer, a native of New York, studied at Yeshivas HaNegev in Netivot, Israel (1978-82), under Rav Yissochor Meyer zt”l, and received smicha from Rav Rabbi Doniel Lehrfield, under whom he also studied at Yeshivas Hanegev. After learning for 2 years in Yeshiva Bais Binyomin of Stamford, Ct., Rabbi Meyer married and moved to Denver in 1984. After learning in Kollel, he founded Yeshiva Toras Chaim’s outreach division (1986), and served as its’ director until 2000. Rabbi Meyer started the Southeast Center for Judaism in 1995, and expanded and joined Aish Hatorah in 2000, to form what is now the community, outreach center and shul know as  Aish Denver.

Rabbi Meyer has shaped Aish Denver as a center for growth, learning and inspiration that offers something for everyone. He is known for learning from his contemporaries as well as from his students, finding ways to inspire and connect with all Jews, regardless of their level of observance.

Crediting his wife, Chaya, as the force behind his success, Rabbi Meyer’s ultimate wish for the Jewish community of Denver is to expose people to the beauty and wisdom of Torah and for all Jews to care for one another and accept Jews across the spectrum of observance, showing them respect and erasing intimidation.

Together, Rabbi and Chaya Meyer have 10 children and five grandchildren.

Always ready and available to lend a listening ear and a helping hand, Sarah is loved by all who meet her.
